Nikhila Henry works as Assistant Editor with The Indian Express in Hyderabad. She has worked for 17 years as a journalist covering politics, crime, education and minority affairs. She started her career in 2007 with The Times of India in Hyderabad and was the daily's education correspondent. She covered the confluence of student politics and academics in her reports. She later worked with The Hindu for four years covering minority affairs and welfare. From 2019, Nikhila has been covering stories of national importance from all the five South Indian states. She headed digital publication The Quint's South Bureau as Bureau Chief, reporting and guiding reporters on the South beat. She has written for international publications including the Huffpost India and the Sunday Times, London. She worked as a journalist at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), New Delhi in 2023. She has edited a book - Rohith Vemula's Caste is Not a Rumour and authored one - The Ferment, Youth Unrest in India.
